Why the Cubs can never win it all

17 02 2008

Patrick Cassidy writes about what’s really wrong with the Cubs and their franchise.

Most of the article is about past Chicago teams and the hoopla surrounding them, but the 2008 Cubs are addressed near the end of the article.  It makes for a very entertaining and humorous read.

While this article is obviously written from an anti-Cub point of view, it does elaborate on some good points.  There is much excitement around some unproven players (Soto, Pie, and Fukudome) and some question marks at the back-end of the rotation.  Much of the arguments are clearly hyperbolic, but as long as you take the statements with a grain of salt and delve a little deeper into the issues at hand, the article can be very useful.
