Braun gives ROY bonus to Habitat for Humanity

Everyone in the Brewers’ organization raves about Ryan Braun and his positive clubhouse impact. In case you are not versed in a baseball terminology, that means Ryan’s just an all-around good guy. Brewers fans got more evidence of that today.

Ryan Braun donated his $10,000 bonus for winning the Rookie of the Year last season to Habitat for Humanity. He volunteered numerous times for the non-profit group to help build homes for the underprivileged.

The press release says, “Moved by his experience, Braun pledged his Rookie of the Year bonus money to Habitat for Humanity and, this week, Braun made good on his promise and delivered a check for $10,000 to the organization.

“After spending one day building alongside thousands of volunteers and getting to know Habitat Partner Families, Braun decided to come back again (and again) throughout the work week. He also decided that there was much more he could do to help more families.”

Jack Zduriencik may have a reputation of drafting and developing quality baseball players, but he also tends to draft genuinely good guys. Players like Bill Hall and Corey Hart are always in the news for their volunteer work at local schools. Stories like this remind me why I am proud to be a Brewers fan. Milwaukee’s organization prides itself in developing mature men, not just baseball players. Tip of the cap to you, Mr. Braun.
